The debut novel by Andy Bellin is the ideal gift for any poker enthusiast. Written in the style of a memoir from a seasoned long time amateur turned poker pro, the book takes you through the very basics of poker, explaining the theories behind it and the traditions.
Although concentrating mostly on Texas Hold ‘Em Up, a consequence of the increased interest in the game over the last few years due to the Sky and Cable television coverage, Bellin does touch upon other variations of the game. In fact he also mentions a few hybrid versions that you almost certainly have never heard of. He is clearly passionate about poker and an expert at his craft.
One of the more essential skills that I learnt from this book was the section explaining how to work out your outs and pot odds, simply explaining a very complicated and often intimidating area of the game.
A must have for anyone interested in poker or gambling in general.
